WayForth has helped over 20,000 families transition into new homes and communities, so we know what we’re talking about when it comes to people finding the best place to live. Moving to a new home is an exciting adventure, but it also entails a lot of planning and preparation. Read on for six key things to think about before making the big move:

1. Location

Location is one of the most important factors when looking for a place to live. Think about access to transportation, nearby amenities such as grocery stores, schools and parks, places of worship and other services like hospitals and post offices. Consider how close or far you want to be from family or friends as well.

2. Size

Before moving into a new property, consider how much space you need for yourself and your family (present AND future). Consider the number of bedrooms and bathrooms needed, as well as any additional storage spaces like a garage or attic. Think about using a move management company, like WayForth, to help you with your transition needs like floor planning and downsizing.

3. Layout

Depending on how you plan on using each room in your house, it’s important to check if the layout works for your needs. If you are someone who loves hosting dinner parties or entertaining guests often, look for houses with open floor plans where people can mingle freely between rooms. On the other hand, if privacy is more important, then search for homes with separate rooms where individuals can have their personal space.

At WayForth, we recommend making a full space plan which considers all your major furniture and belongings and plots them into the layout of your new home. Many of our clients are downsizing from larger single-family homes into smaller living spaces so planning carefully where everything will go and exactly what items will make the trip is a very important step in the process. We even take fall prevention and other safety measures into consideration when helping seniors with door to door moving.

4. Condition & Maintenance

While looking at properties online may give some idea of what they look like inside, nothing beats seeing them in person before signing on the dotted line! Schedule an appointment with an agent or landlord so that you can assess its condition yourself—look for signs of previous damage (like water stains on ceilings) which may indicate potential hazards in the future such as plumbing issues or roof problems that need attention soon after moving in.

Ask questions regarding maintenance fees (e.g., landscaping fees, HOA dues, etc.) so that you have realistic expectations about these costs once settling into your new home. And of course, if you are purchasing a new home or condominium, be sure to have a complete home inspection done before closing. You might need to arrange storage for your items while critical work is being completed before it is delivered and all the settling in process is complete.

5. Amenities & Services

All neighborhoods have different offerings when it comes to amenities and services like laundry facilities, gyms, transportation links and much more. Chances are there might be something special available nearby which could influence your choice of property—for example homes with proximity to parks with playgrounds make great homes for families with young children while those who enjoy being close to entertainment options like theaters or restaurants should prioritize homes situated near city centers or downtown districts.

6. Relocation Services

Lastly don’t forget about seeking assistance from relocation specialists who can help simplify the process of packing up belongings before transporting them safely across the country (or even overseas!). These professionals have access to resources which may prove beneficial during the transition period.

Speaking of hiring a relocation specialist, one of the best things to do when embarking on the process of moving is to hire a move management company that can provide a COMPLETE MOVE SOLUTION. At WayForth, we can help you with almost every step of the process, while also making sure you get settled in with minimal stress wherever you might be going.
